Dont mean everything will stop, might affect the OT at the VA, slow things even more (is that a oxymoron) you'll all still get your monthly. Its rangers and Nat Parks that will get the hurt.

I just filed my federal tax return electronically and it was accepted. IRS is still working to collect revenue and so is my State Department of Revenue.

The length of shutdown is greatest factor to come in play. Highly doubtful those in DC will mess around that much longer to cause veterans compensation pay delays.

From what I can gather the VA has enough money to pay disability benefits and pension through October. If the shutdown lasts longer than a few weeks...the VA will be out of money and any November...
